Three people in a truck were nearly swept downriver in Camp Verde.
They used their cell phones to call for help.
The people -- all adults -- were on their way back from a basketball game Tuesday night when they took what they thought was a shortcut across the Verde River.
That shortcut got them stuck in fast-moving water.
The fire department was called in to rescue the people.
Crews used rafts to get the stranded people back to dry land.
While the truck had some serious water damage, nobody was hurt.
The truck is still in the river.
