Raper DMX was arrested on Thursday, August 14th according to the Maricopa County Sherriff's Office.DMX attorney Murry Richman, apparently doing pro bono work for the hip-hop star, said reports that an arrest warrant was issued for his client are wrong.
"There was no warrant issued," he said.
Earlier this week, it was widely reported a judge issued a warrant because DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, didn't appear for a pretrial conference on four counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of marijuana.
The case is one of several Simmons is facing in Phoenix, including several animal cruelty and drug possession counts.
According to Richman, DMX is also using a public defender because he is short on money.
"His home is in foreclosure and he is without funds," he said.
