Brooke White returns to her roots to help kick off "Idols Tour" 2008
Mesa native Brooke White, 25, was happy to be back in the Valley on Tuesday – except for the heat – as the 2008 version of the "Idols Tour" began its nationwide schedule. The tour will play 52 concerts across the U.S., and one in Canada, between now and mid-September.
White, who quit beauty school to move to California and pursue a music career, was working as a nanny for twin one-year-old girls when she auditioned for "American Idol" a year ago. She says the past several months, since she made it into the shows top ten – assuring her a spot on the Idols Tour – have been a blur. Even though she didn't win the competition, as Glendale's Jordin Sparks did last year, she told KFYI News before Tuesday night's show that she's still very grateful to have gotten as far as she did "because you see how many people tried out, and you know how hard it is to get there, and to think that people are voting for you, they're supporting you, they like what you do – it's an incredible feeling."
White said she wasn't aware how much support she had here in the Valley as she continued making the cut week after week, until she called her family and friends who live here who kept telling her there were viewing parties week after week, at which people called in to vote for her.
White says her schedule will be full seven days a week until the end of the Idols Tour, after which she hopes to record an album.
